:edit: i changed it again, i flipped it abviously and made it brighter, it was too dark on dA, and for some reason it looks better right side up on the computer

wow, um well, I have no clue how i came up with this, obviously very different from my normal stuff

This is for my visual design class and we were supposed to cut out shapes and design them on a grid. well i had no clue what to do. for 5 days, i couldn't even think anout where to start. so monday in class I'm flipping through sketchbook and suddenly I notice this pattern. I only had faces and hearts in my sketch book and I had this shaded circle on the front page.

So I cut out the shapes that you see here, the face, the heart (only the first heart, i made the two others each smaller for design purposes) and the circle. So I had these all sitting there on my paper and I glued the face on the top because it was the most logical spot, the circle whent on the bottom for balance purposes. I still couldn't figure out what to do with the hearts. so I started doodling. I drew in the hair, then got the idea to make it wind around the circle, and then to make it more interesting, make it multicolored. then I got the idea for the hearts.

Then I started looking at the drawing upside down and sideways. I always do this with my drawings, dont ask me why. But i liked this angle the best so voila

I'm telling you this because I have no other explaination for what this is about or why I did this or that. Thats the way I draw most of the time. "hey that looks good, il put that there" or "hey thats a pretty color, im gonna use that more"

oh and the only thing i really put thought into was the eye. that is the one thing I really hope you notice. At first I had her eye just closed. then I got to thinking about jack sparrow and decided to make it look like here eye was open and closed at the same time. made it kinda creepy looking though lol oh well.

im sorry im so chatty, this is what happens at 2:30 in the morning.

I used graphite, chinese markers and colored pencils on black construction paper and regular drawing paper.

The composition is dynamic , the black /red zones gives it strenght, there is a strong feeling behind, the lil hearts are in green, that can express a kind of hope andthey are 3 that gets rhythm, her expression on her face is mysterious and tense/sad herl ips are not red or pink but orange, that's interesting, also there is a kind of moon, so it addes a kind of night feeling, melancholy. It's very expressive.
